GetJustly guide / Getting started

GetJustly testing and navigation guide

GetJustly connects people with a legal problem to the help they need: a guided first step, a lawyer, free legal aid or a paralegal who acts on their behalf. Lawyers run their practice on it, the Ministry of Justice watches where complaints pile up, and the platform team keeps money, identity and crisis alerts moving. This guide walks a tester through all five roles, then hands over a checklist.

Test environment
Apphttps://getjustly.afrikabal.org
Persona pickerhttps://getjustly.afrikabal.org/auth/personas
Emergency page (no sign-in)https://getjustly.afrikabal.org/emergency

Signing in

  1. Open /auth/personas in Chrome, Edge or Safari.
  2. The page shows five seats: Client, Advocate, Paralegal, Oversight and Administrator. Each names the person you will be.
  3. Press the seat you want. You are signed in and land on that role's home.
  4. To switch role, open the account menu in the sidebar and sign out, then pick another seat.
  5. Every screen has an emergency link to /emergency: helplines and a Quick Safe Exit button that clears the session.

Good to know

Payments, SMS and WhatsApp run in sandbox mode on this server. No real money or messages leave the system. All testers share one dataset, so a record may already have moved on when you reach it; pick the next one rather than log a defect.

What this guide covers

  1. Key ideas. Complaints, matters, consent and the money hold. Read this once.
  2. Five role chapters. A menu tour for each role, then walkthroughs with expected results.
  3. Test cases. Fourteen cases, GJ-01 to GJ-14, with Pass / Fail / Blocked and notes. Results save in your browser and export to a file.
  4. Reference. Statuses and money terms.

How to use it

Each role starts with a tour of its menu, then numbered walkthroughs. Every walkthrough ends with an Expected result: if the screen does not match it, log a defect. The Test cases section is the checklist to hand a tester. Mark each case Pass, Fail or Blocked, add what you saw, then press Export results in the sidebar to download the run.

GetJustly guide / Getting started

Key ideas before you start

Five ideas explain most of GetJustly.

Complaint, then matter

A client files a complaint (reference like JL-2026-1847). Once a lawyer accepts it, it becomes a matter they work. Statuses run Pending review, Lawyer assigned, In progress, Resolved.

Help before a lawyer

Not everyone needs or can afford a lawyer. /client/first-door asks what the problem is about and points to the right door; /client/legal-aid finds free help; the legal assistant answers general questions and hands hard ones to a person.

Consent is the key

A paralegal or trusted person sees someone's cases only while that person's consent stands. Consent records how it was given (signed form, thumbprint with witness, or spoken with witness) and can be taken back at any time.

Money is held, then released

Retainers and fixed-fee offers are paid up front and held by Justly. The client releases parts as the work is done; released money lands in the lawyer's wallet, which they withdraw to MTN, Airtel or a bank.

A person decides

When the AI is not sure, or someone says they are in danger, it stops and puts the case in a human queue: AI escalations and Crisis support for the platform team.
